Artist's Statement:

"Pandemic" is a sculptural work that represents the challenges and struggles of humanity during the COVID-19 pandemic. The piece explores the themes of isolation, fear, loss, suffering, and resilience, as well as the hope and resilience of the medical community. It is a symbol of the strength and determination of the people in the midst of the pandemic, and the unity and collaboration of humanity in the face of adversity. The use of scrap metal and repurposed materials in the work highlights the power and resilience of material that has been recycled and repurposed.

The use of bronze in the work also signifies the durability and endurance of art as a form of communication and expression in the face of difficult times. "Pandemic" is a powerful and thought-provoking work that will likely continue to hold a special significance in the historical narrative of society and the human experience.

The value of art and its enduring existence depends on the reason why the art was made in the first place and how significant it was to society during its era. In simple words, Art is valued by story, history, and authenticity. Pandemic has all that. The Pandemic art is the largest and heaviest ever measuring 8 ½ by 4.5 feet weighing about 800 pounds designed by Dr. Victor O. Olatoye and fabricated by Yinka Fabayo. "Pandemic" is one of a kind.
